Directions: |
Directions:In a bowl put 2 cups warm water with 1 tsp salt, dissolve. Fry tortillas in hot oil until real crispy; immediately dip fried tortilla in salt water and drain standing up on paper towels. Use tongs for this process. In a small sauce pot add tomato sauce, oregano (ground up with your fingers), salt and pepper. Heat, but do not boil. With a teaspoon add sauce onto tortilla and spread it around tortilla, (you don’t need a lot of sauce...a thin spread); put a sprinkling of cabbage, you don’t need a lot. Put a few drops of Tapatio Salsa Picante....how much depends on you!
NOTE: If you don’t want to fry the tortillas, just buy ready-made tostadas at the grocery store! |

Notes: This is considered a snack but I have served it for dinner. We were visiting our dear friends, the Estrada’s, and Sally was making them. We had already eaten, so when she offered us a taste, we hesitantly accepted one. We couldn’t stop eating them. So, remember: you can’t eat just one! You might have to fry more tortillas!
