5 T. sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1 cup water
1½ tsp. soy sauce
1 heaping T. cornstarch
Red food coloring (opt)

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan, mix sugar and 1/2 cup water and heat to dissolve sugar.
In a cup, mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup water.
Turn up heat on saucepan and add vinegar to heating sugar mixture; then stir in cornstarch mixture, stirring until it boils and thickens. Add soy sauce and food color. Keep warm and use at once for egg rolls or on Sweet and sour pork or chicken.
This sauce does not keep well but we love it on egg rolls as its most like sweet and sour sauce from Chinese restaurants.
