2 cups lightly packed basil leaves
1/4 cup flat leaf parsley leaves
4 T. pine nuts
2 cloves peeled garlic
2/3 cup shredded fresh parmesan cheese
1/2 cup EVOO
1 T. butter

A combination of garlic scapes and basil is also good!

Directions:
Directions:
Add all ingredients to food processor or blender and process until smooth. If not using immediately, scoop into a jar and coat pesto with a fine film of EVOO. Refrigerate and use within one week.

For serving on pasta, reserve 2 T. of hot cooking liquid from pasta and add a drop at a time to pesto to get desired consistency for pasta. Makes enough for 3/4 - 1 # pasta.

Pesto is great on oven crisped Whole grain French bread,(sliced thin),topped with bacon bits, Kalamata or black olives, chopped tomato, avocado, or shred cheese and drizzled with balsamic before serving.
