1⅓ c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
5 cups sifted flour
2 tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
dash of ginger
1 c light molasses
1 c buttermilk
12 oz chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Sift together dry ingredients.Combine molasses and buttermilk; add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop from tbsp 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350ºF for 12-15 min. Makes 144.
