1 unbaked pie crust
3 egg yolks
1 1/2 cans condensed milk
1/2 c. Key lime juice
MERINGUE:
3 egg whites
6 T. sugar
1/4 t. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Bake pie crust 10 minutes at 325º. Whisk yolks and milk together; add lime juice. Pour into pie crust and bake at 325º for 20 minutes. MERINGUE: Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar. Add sugar gradually, while beating to stiff peaks. Pile on hot pie, bake at 325º for 15-20 minutes.

This is the original recipe from Key West. It was not green; did not have a graham cracker crust; and had meringue, not whipped cream. Back in the day, the Key West Conchs did not bake the filling, just the meringue.
