1/2 Cup Shortening (Half butter or margarine)
1/2 Cup Peanut butter
1/2 Cup Granulated sugar
1/2 Cup Brown sugar (Packed)
1 Egg
1 1/4 Cups Gold Medal flour
1/2 tsp Baking powder
3/4 tsp Baking soda
1/4 tsp Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

Mix shortening, peanut butter, sugars, and egg thoroughly.

Blend all dry ingredients, stir into shortening mixture. Chill dough.

Roll dough in 1 1/4" balls. Place 3" apart on lightly greased baking sheet.

Flatten crisscross style with fork dipped in flour.

Bake 10-12 minutes.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Cookies

Make dough for Peanut Butter Cookies. Chill.

Preheat oven to 375º.

Shape dough in 1" balls. Roll in 1/2 cup finely chopped peanuts.

Place 3" apart on baking sheet. Press thumb gently in center of each.

Bake 10-12 minutes.

Spoon small amount of jelly or preserves in thumbprint.
