1 cup milk (scalded and cooled)
½ cake Fleishmans yeast (I use 1 pkt)
4 eggs
½ cup sugar
1 tsp salt
4 cups flour
½ cup butter (melted and cooled)


Crumbs:
2 ¼ cups flour
¾ cups sugar
¾ cups butter at room temperature. (1½ sticks)

Scald the milk and set aside till lukewarm (110º to 115º)
Add the yeast to the milk
Beat 3 eggs. Gradually add sugar, salt and 2 cups of the flour.
Then add the ½ cup of butter that has been melted and cooled.
Then add another 2 cups of flour alternating with the milk/yeast mixture.
Mix thoroughly. It shouldn't end up sticky but not smooth like other bread.
Let rise until double in a warm draft-free place.
When it has doubled, knead down. Cut in half.
Roll each half ½ inch thick and put on greased pan
Brush with slightly beaten egg. Cover with the crumbs.
Let rise until double again.
Bake at 350º for about 15 minutes.


Crumbs:
Combine flour and sugar. Cut in the butter with a pastry cutter until crumbs form.
