Bring to boil:
1 cup water
1 cup butter

Remove from heat, add remaining ingredients:
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
½ tsp salt

2 eggs
½ cup sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda

½ tsp orange, lemon, or almond flavoring
1 tsp orange or lemon rind, grated

Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°

Step 2
In a large saucepan, bring 1 cup butter and water to a boil. Remove from heat, and add while hot the flour, sugar, salt mixture. Beat in eggs, sour cream, 1 teaspoon baking soda until smooth. Add rind & extract. Pour batter into a greased 10x15-inch baking pan.

Step 3
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes, or until cake is golden brown and tests done. Cool for 20 minutes.

Frosting:
½ cup butter
6 TB milk
5 cups confectioners' sugar
½ teaspoon orange, lemon or almond extract
1 cup chopped pecans

Step 4
Combine 1/2 cup butter and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar, and extract. Stir in pecans. Spread frosting over warm cake.
