1 can drained pork and beans
½ cup chili sauce
⅓ cup brown sugar
3 tbsp. chopped onion
2 tbsp. chopped green bell pepper
½ tsp. salt
3 slices bacon, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients.
2. Sprinkle bacon on top.
3. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes uncovered.

This recipe comes from Amanda Hood. She was the wife of James Hood, Martha's high school best friend. Unfortunately, James died in a jeep accident at Camp Shelby at a very early age. Martha mourned his death her entire life.
Notes were written in the margins of this recipe where Martha had tripled the measurements and where she had multiplied by 8....must have been a big crowd!
