1 cup butter, softened
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
½ teaspoon salt.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, oil and both sugars; add eggs and vanila; mix well. Sift dry ingredients together; blend into creamed mixture. Chill until firm. Preheat oven to 400º, Roll dough into small balls using 1 teaspoonful of dough for each. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets (or parchment paper). Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake 4-6 minutes. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
