"When I'm at a Chinese restaurant having a hard time with chopsticks, I always hope that there's a Chinese kid at an American restaurant somewhere who's struggling mightily with a fork."--Rick Budinich

1/2 lb Fresh Mozzarella
1/2 Cup Canola Oil or more

Directions:
Directions:
Pour oil in Fry pan, depending on size, oil should be a little more than 1/4” deep, add flour to pie pan and beaten eggs to shallow bowl, cut mozzarella so that it’s almost the size of the bread, make a sandwich, when all sandwiches are ready, heat the oil over medium heat, press sandwich into flour, coating both sides, if your oil is hot, now you can dip floured sandwich into beaten egg (very messy) and directly into fry pan, sandwich will puff up, when one side is golden turn with tongs, and continue cooking, remove from oil and drain on paper towels, continue until all sandwiches are made, serve immediately with marinara sauce.

This is very easy, very messy, but very worth it.
Had this many years ago and fell in love with it, fast forward a few years back, my grandson Jacob brought a friend for Sunday dinner and we had this as an appetizer, he then home and told his Italian grandmother he had a Mozzarella Grilled Cheese sandwich, when I met his grandmother she wanted to know what was the Italian Grilled Cheese sandwich, henceforth the name.
