1 pound of good apples
2 1/2 cups (1/2 pound) pitted dates
1 1/2 cups (1/2 pound) sugar
1 large onion
1 tsp pepper
1 dessert spoon salt
1 tsp ground ginger
2 cups (1 pint) of vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Put apples, dates and onion through a mincer or chop finely.
2. Put all into pan, with pepper, salt, etc., and simmer slowly until all is cooked and fairly thick, about 1 hour, then put into jars.
