1 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla

1 cup chopped walnuts (usually omitted)
12 1/2 oz chocolate chips, about 2 cups or a 350 g package

“Chocolate chips were the first real luxury that surfaced after WWII. At first it felt almost sinful when rationing was lifted from sugar and butter, BUT THEN – to be able to buy something rich like chocolate chips to use in baking. It was an unbelievable delight. They caught on right away!!!” - My Goose is Cooked

1. In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars.
2. Beat in the vanilla and eggs, then the baking soda and flour.
