Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups sugar, white or brown
1 cup butter (not margarine)
1 tbsp corn syrup
3 tbsp water
1 cup sliced or slivered almonds (I always lightly browned them in the micro)
6 ounce. chocolate chips
2-4 tbsp almonds for sprinkling

Directions:
Directions:
1. Boil to card-crack stage, 310 F (152 C), the sugar, butter, syrup and water. Please use a candy thermometer.
2. Remove from heat, add almonds, stir and pour onto cookie sheet. Work quickly.
3. Melt chocolate chips and spread over candy. I usually did not melt the chips just spread them over the hot mixture and they melt enough to spread over the surface. Sprinkle with extra almonds.
4. Refrigerate until very cold. Break into pieces.
