2 quarts popped popcorn
2 tbsp. butter for hands (or as needed)

Directions:
In a 2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, sorghum syrup, water, salt, and butter. Cook to the hard ball stage (about 250 F on a candy thermometer), stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Working quickly, stir in popped corn and turn into a buttered pan. With buttered hands, shape into balls and place on waxed paper to cool.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
These popcorn balls are made with sorghum molasses syrup...no substitutions. The Akins' sisters would get together and make these balls. We believe it was something they had often growing up and was just a tradition they liked to carry on and enjoyed doing it together. Not sure if it was the popcorn balls themselves or just the fellowship of being with each other, but whichever, they definitely enjoyed it. (This is close to the recipe but not 100% sure if it is the EXACT recipe they followed.)
