1½ cups flour
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1¼ sticks butter, softened
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
½ tsp. vanilla extract
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Topping if desired:
remaining ½ cup of morsels, melted
½ cup peanut butter

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375º. Line 12 inch round pan with parchment paper.
2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
3. Mix butter and sugar until creamy.
4. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well.
5. Add flour mixture gradually and beat.
6. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chip morsels.
7. Bake 15-20 minutes.
8. Let stand 5 minutes. Spread with melted morsels and peanut butter if desired.

This is another recipe from Michele, our neighbor on Trinidad Street. Grandma does not use the toppings above. Photo shows it decorated as a good luck cake for the 2016-2017 school year. The frosted cake pictured on top is a good luck cake for the 2017-2018 school year for all the Grands.
