Personal Notes:
This was the McKinney family favorite coffee cake recipe from The Joy of Cooking book, a wedding gift. 56 years ago. The page in the cookbook is almost non-existent with flour, sugar, butter, all spilled on the page.
Of course, we also enjoyed Bisquick coffee cake, but this one was the treasure. Granny liked to put jam in the middle or layer with cinnamon, some sugar and nuts.
I recommend you all treat your kids to this wonderful tradition and please fight over that precious cookbook.
