8 slices of soft bread
Soft Butter
1½ pounds grated sharp cheddar cheese
6 eggs
1 teaspoon minced onion
1 teaspoon brown sugar
½ dry mustard
¼ cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon salt
¼ paprika
2 cups half and half and ½ cup milk
1 pound ham sliced and torn into small pieces or use cooked bacon or sausage instead of ham

Directions:
Directions:
Spread bread with butter and place one layer in the bottom of a 9X13 inch greased dish. Then add one layer of sliced ham or bacon/sausage and a layer of cheese. Repeat the layers beginning with bread and ending with cheese. Beat eggs well adding remaining ingredients. Pour over the cheese. Place in the refrigerator overnight for 24 hours. Start to bake in a cold oven set to 350º and bake for 1 hour or until the middle is set.
