1/2 cup cocoa
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Cup Chopped Walnut or Pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cocoa, sugar, salt, and milk to boil on high. Reduce heat to medium and continue to boil. the mixture will rise high in pan then stabilize. Cook until mixture forms a soft ball (The syrup easily forms a ball when dropped in cold water but flattens once removed.) Take off stove and add vanilla and butter. Let sit to cool until almost room temperature. Stir until mixture until it thickens and is no longer glossy. Add nuts if desired and put in a butter or parchment paper-lined pan and cool.

I can remember Mom making this to take to the drive-inn as a treat. She also made it every Christmas. She had to make a batch without nuts for Kev and Laura.
