1 c. sugar
zest of 1 lemon
½ t. salt
1 t. almond flavoring
2 eggs
1 c. all purpose flour
1 stick butter
sliced almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. This makes a small cake. Use either an iron skillet or one round cake pan. Grease your pan or skillet with the stick of butter, then melt the rest of the stick to add to batter. Mix all ingredients (except sliced almonds) with a spoon or a mixer - doesn't matter. Pour into the pan and top with sliced almonds and a little extra sugar. Bake for 30 minutes.

I got this recipe from a friend who ran a tea house for a many years. It was a favorite of the tea house patrons. This cake tastes like a dense pound cake and is wonderful with a cup of coffee or tea!
