1 package active dry yeast
1 tbs molasses
1 tbs honey
½ cup strong hot coffee

2 tbs molasses
1 tall can (13 fl oz) evaporated milk
2¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground ginger
2 tbs cooking oil

1½ cups whole wheat flour
3 cups sifted white flour
2 tbs rolled oats (like Old Fashioned Quaker Oaks)

one empty 2lb coffee can or two 1lb coffee cans

Directions:
Directions:
1. Put yeast into a large, warm bow. Mix molasses, honey with hot coffee. When lukewarm, add to yeast and mix.

2. Let stand in warm place for 15 minutes. Add rest of molasses, evaporated milk, salt, ginger and oil (mixing as you add).

3. With an electric mixer. Mix in flours, finishing with a large wooden spoon.

4. Thoroughly grease a 2 lb coffee can and its plastic lid with oil or vegetable shortening. Place doug in can and snap on lid.

5. Let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until the lid pops off.

6. Remove lid and bake uncovered bread 50 minutes in a 350ºF oven.

7. Butter top crust and cool on rack.
