2 lb. pkg. frozen hash browns
1 large container sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
1 stick butter
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese (sharp)
1 onion, chopped

Topping:
2 cups corn flakes
1/4 c. butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients except topping ingredients and put in baking dish. Melt butter and mix with corn flakes. Spread buttered corn flakes over top of potatoes. Bake at 350º 45-60 minutes.

NOTE: You can make this ahead (without cornflake topping) and freeze uncooked. Thaw and add cornflake topping before cooking.
