Next, add milk. and bring the dumpling mixture to a boil and let it cpntinue to boil until the mixture thickens and until dumplings are formed. Caution: Don't stir dumpling very much until they are formed good and firm cause they will turn to mush.(you want turnip dumplings not turnip mush!!! At this time, add butter to dumplings (to taste) and let them simmer until done and look ready to eat. ______________________
Definition of RUTABAGA BY Werriam-Mebster: a type of turnip (Brassica napus napobrassica) used by various members of the Akins family to create a dish that is enjoyed by only a few members of this family. The other family members strongly prefer not (refuse) to partake of this delicacy.
Example of RUTABAGA used in a sentence to clarify this meaning: "Ya'll come on over for supper, we fixin' to have turnip dumplins and I made a passel of 'em." |

Notes: This is June. So many things are running in my head about this recipe!!! You are either FOR TEAM TURNIP DUMPLINGS or you are AGAINST TEAM TURNIP DUMPLINGS (like normal people are lol). I for one don't understand why they aren't called Rutabaga Dumplings. So for those who wanted the recipe from Cathy Bradford here it is. She really didn't have a recipe per se. She just kind of wrote out how she made them. But all of you people curious or brave enough to try this recipe, don't worry one minute because there is no way you can mess it up! Trust me! And one more thing. Because me and Steve Salmon have voiced our opinion of this dish so often, Cathy insisted that the only two people she thought this recipe should be dedicated to are: June Stansell and Steve Salmon. Should have seen that one coming.
