- 15 cups sliced pickling cucumbers
- 3 onions, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup coarse salt
- 4 cups cracked ice
- 2 ½ cups cider vinegar
- 2 ½ cups white sugar
- ¾ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp celery seed
- 1 tbsp mustard seed

Combine cucumbers, onions, salt, and ice in large bowl. Mix well. Place a plate on the mixture and weight on the plate, pressing the mix for 3 hours.

After 3 hours, drain and rinse the pickles and onions thoroughly.

Combine vinegar, sugar, turmeric, celery seed, and mustard seed in a large pot. Add in drained cucumbers and onions. Place pot on medium heat. Bring almost to a boil (do NOT allow to boil). Remove from heat. Seal in sterilized jars in a 10 min hot water bath.
