1/2 cup butter
3 tbsp. All purpose flour
1/4 cup water

1 pastry shell

Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
8 applies (braeburn, golden delicious, honeycrisp, rome, jonathan, jonagold, northern spy, melrose, winesap, cortland, gala)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º

melt butter in a saucepan, stir in flour to form a paste
add water, white sugar and brown sugar and bring to a boil
reduce temperature and let simmer for 3 minutes

Place bottom crust in pan and fill with mounded applies
Pour sugar and butter liquid over pie and top with crust

Bake 15 minutes then reduce temperature to 350º and bake another 35 - 45 minutes
