Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 pie crusts - either frozen or boxed or made from scratch
apples, sliced
1 c sugar (I use 1/2, or 1/4 brown and 1/4 white)
nutmeg (maybe 1/4 t? or 1/2?
cinnamon (again, maybe 1/4 or 1/2 t)
butter pats

Directions:
Directions:
OK, this is a really sketchy back-of-the-envelope recipe! Here's what she said (and I wrote it down)...

"Put apple slices in a bowl, mix the nutmeg and cinnamon into the sugar, mix the sugar in with the apples.

Put the apples into the pie crust. Put butter pats (maybe 1/8" thick?) on top of the apples. Put the top crust on, pinch the edges together and make marks with a fork. Cut 5 or 6 slits into the top crust.

And that's all I got!! I think I remember baking it at 350 until it started to bubble.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
ONE time I made it and it was really good. But not nearly as good as Mom's. A few other times I tried and and it was ok only. I was inclined to just give up, but as I write this, and miss my Mom, I vow to keep trying, and I'll update the recipe with (hopefully) the progress. We may never get it quite as good, but we will try! In her honor!
