Preheat Oven to 350

1 (32oz) bag frozen hash brown potatoes
1/4 c. melted butter
1/2 c. chopped onions
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 can cream of chicken soup
10 oz. American cheese or sharp cheese grated
2 c. corn flakes

Directions:
Defrost potatoes or you can prepare frozen just cook longer, cook onions in butter until tender, sweated, not browned. Mix cooked onion and butter with all remaining ingredients except corn flakes. Fold in potatoes, pour into a 9 x 13 pan. Melt 1/4 c. butter and mix in corn flakes then top casserole and back 45 minutes.
