12 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 lb butter, room temperature
3 cups walnuts- ground
2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp whisky


Syrup
3 ½ cup sugar
2 ½ cup water
1 stick cinnamon
5 cloves

Directions:

1. Preheat oven 350 º

2. Prepare syrup
Boil all syrup ingredients x 10 min

3. Prepare batter
Beat egg whites in a bowl and put aside

4. In another bowl,
Cream butter for 15 minutes
Add sugar
Keep mixing and add egg yolks one at a time
Add whisky, nuts, vanilla, baking powder
Add flour a little bit at at time
Fold in egg whites

5. Pour batter in a greased 11 x 13 pan

6. Bake until done ~ 45 min to 60 min

7. Once cool, pour hot syrup
Cover with a a towel to keep cake moist

8. Cut into diamonds

9. Decorate with nuts or ½ of a cherry
