1½ cups flour
1½ tsp baking powder
⅓ cup butter or margarine
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
⅔ cup milk

Directions:
Sift together: Flour and baking powder

Cream Butter and Sugar. Add 2 unbeaten eggs yolks and Vanilla, beat well.

Blend in dry ingredients alternately with the milk.

Beat 2 egg whites until stiff and fold into batter.

Bake in a 350º oven in a 9" round cake pan (or 8 x 8 square pan) for 40 to 45 minutes

Looking through some of my mom's recipes, this one was on three different cards. Two were handwritten and one was typed. I took it as an indication she really liked the cake.
