12 oz can carnation evaporated milk
1 lb margarine
18 oz nestle chocolate chips(3 small bags)
4½ c sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
1½ c chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large saucepan combine milk and sugar. Bring to a rolling boil for 10 minutes stirring constantly. Take off heat and add margarine, let melt; add chocolate chips, let melt; add vanilla. Stir for 2 minutes by hand. Pour mixture in a large mixing bowl and beat on medium high speed for 15-20 minutes (this is what gives it the smooth texture) Stir in nuts. Pour in a buttered 9x13 pan. Store covered in refrigerator.
