1 square unsweetened chocolate
2+1/4 cup sifted cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup orange juice
1 TB grated orange peel

Place oven rack in lower third of oven & preheat to 350º

Lightly grease 9 x 5 x 3 baking oan

In small cup, set in simmering water, melt chocolate. Remove from water & let cool

On waxed paper, sift flour , powder & soda & salt. Set aside

In large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter with sugar intil fluffy. Add eggs, i at a time. Add vanilla

Add flour mixture & OJ alternately to sugar mixture, beginning & ending with flour; stir in orange peel

Remove 1/2 cup batter to cup with the cooled chocolate & stir to mix well.

Spoon orange batter & chocolate batter into pan alternately & cut a Z through batter with a knife.
Tap pan lightly on counter once or twice

Bake 50 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. If top browns too quickly cover with aluminum foil

Cool cake in pan on wire rack 15 minutes. With a metal spatula, loosen cake around edges & turn out.
