4 pounds pork spareribs, cut into serving size (2-3 bones) pieces
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 TB sugar
1 TB paprika
2 tsp each salt, chili powder, pepper & cumin

BBQ SAUCE:

1 finely chopped onion
2 TB butter
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 TB lemon juice
3 TB Worcestershire sauce
2 TB cider vinegar
1+1/2 tsp mustard
1 tsp celery seed
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions:

Rub rins with garlic & place in a shallow roasting pan

Cover & bake at 300 for 2 hours. Cool slightly then combine spices & rub over ribs.

Cover & refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight

In a saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients & bring to a boil.

Reduce heat & cook & stir until thickened, about 10 minutes

Remove from heat & set aside 3/4 cup.

Brush ribs with sauce & grill , covered, over medium heat for 12 minutes , turning & basting all the time.

Serve with remaining sauce
