1 pound ground beef
1 ¼ teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
½ cup quick-cooking oats or breadcrumbs
Topping
⅓ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Mix all meatloaf ingredients well
Shape into a loaf
Loaf pan works best
Mix ingredients for topping and spread on loaf. Bake for 1 hour.

I loved meatloaf as a kid especially with the sauce recipe included. It was an inexpensive meal, so we had it often. I certainly made a lot of meatloaf for the McKinney's, and we slathered on the sauce.
Check out the tomato soup sauce.
You can add other veggies into your loaf.
