1/2 cup white raisins
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup currants
1/4 cup candied fruit peel
6 candied cherries finely chopped
1/2 cup ground almonds
8 oz. butter
1 cup sugar
Grated rind of 1 orange
4 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup blanched almonds
2 tsp. Allspice

Preheat oven to 300º
Grease an 8 inch spring form cake pan and line it with greased parchment paper.
Mix the raisins currants, peel, cherries and ground almonds together in bowl and set aside.
Cream the butter and sugar, then add the orange rind. Beat the eggs separately and gradually add them to the mixture, beating well. Sift the flour and baking powder, then fold into the mixture. Pour into the cake pan and arrange the almonds on the top in a circle. Bake for approx. 2 hours or until a knife comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes, then take out of pan onto wire rake. to cool.
