8 - 10 apples, peeled and cored
*Apples can be left whole or sliced to approximately 1/4 inch thick.
2 cups sugar
1/2 pound "Red Hot" cinnamon candies
2 cups water
Spices: whole cloves and cinnamon ~ add as desired
Optional: Red food coloring to make apples brighter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, candies, water and spices together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
Drop apples into hot mixture and boil gently, turning them often, until fork pierces them easily.
Let apples cool in syrup overnight, then refrigerate.
