1 lb dried Great Northern or Navy Beans
1 tsp dry mustard
⅔ to 1 Cup sugar
1 small whole onion
6 slices of bacon
1 tsp baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Cover beans with water and let set over night.
Bring beans to a boil, drain, and rinse. Return to pan, cover with cold water and 1 tsp baking soda. Bring to boil again, drain and rinse.
Cover again with cold water, add a small whole onion, bacon drippings or six slices of bacon, simmer until tender - about 1 hour. Remove onion.
Mix 2/3 to 1 Cup white sugar and 1 tsp. dry mustard, salt and pepper - add to beans.
Place in a casserole - bake at 350º for 1 hour
