1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
chopped nuts
1 small box (about 1 cup) chopped dates

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Mix sugar & shortening & cream until creamy.

Beat in eggs& mix until creamy &smooth

Add in flour, soda, salt & vanilla

Stir in nuts 7 dates

Spread into a 8 x 8 square baking pan

Bake about 40 minutes
