1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar, divided
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp grated lemon peel
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp RUM flavoring
1 cup sifted flour
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1 TB lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Crean butter with 1/2 cup sugar, egg yolks, lemon peel, salt & flavoring

Blend in flour

Add 1/2 cup walnuts.

Spread into a buttered 8 x 8 squarebaking pan.

Bake 20 minutes.

Beat eggwhites stiff

Gradually beat in remaining sugar

Fold in lemon juice & remaining walnuts/

Spread over HOT baked layer.

Bake 25 minutes longer until lightlybrowned.

Cool completely before cutting into squares
