Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 16-oz jar maraschino cherries, stems removed
1 cup sugar
half & half
cherry lemon-lime soda
whipped cream & additional maraschino cherries, for topping, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
To prep, the syrup~ Empty the entire 16-oz jar of cherries (and cherry juice!) into a blender. Add sugar and blend well, until the mixture is thin and uniform in texture.
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, until the syrup has thickened and cooled.
To make the sodas~ Add ice cubes to glasses. Measure out about 1/2 cup cherry lemon-lime soda and pour it into each glass. {If you have larger glasses, you can double all of the ingredients.} Add about 2 tablespoons of the homemade cherry syrup to each glass. Top with 1-2 tablespoons half & half, as well as whipped cream and a cherry on top, if desired.
The sodas look super pretty layered, but I always add a straw and encourage everyone to give them a stir before drinking.
Store leftover syrup in an enclosed jar in the fridge for up to a month.
