1+1/2 cups prunes
1 tsp grated lemon rind
2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1 TB cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350º

Pour boiling water over prunes . Let stand 15 minutes. Drain, pit & dice prunes.Add lemon rind then set aside

Grease & flour 9" tube pan

Sift together flour, baking powder & soda, & salt.remove 1/4 cup & toss with prunes

Cream butter & sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.

Slowly beat in flour mixture, alternately with sour cream & vanilla, beginning & ending with the flour mix.

Fold in prunes.

Combine brown sugar, cinnamon & nuts.

Turn 1/3 of the batter into the pan.

Sprinkle with 1/3 brown sugar mixture, repeat layering twice.

Bake 55 minutes or until done.

Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes then remove from pan.
