1 - 8 oz, pkg dates (use 1 cup flour to dredge in)
1 cup nuts
1 can coconut
1 pound pkg orange slices - cut up
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 tsp soda
3+1/2 plain flour (total = 2+1/2 + 1 cup )
1 cup butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 pinch salt
1 TB orange or lemon rind

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250º

Dredge dates in 1 cup flour. Add coconut, nuts & orange slices, then set aside.

Cream butter & sugar. Add one egg at a time continuing to beat well after each addition

Add milk & 2+1/2 cup flour alternately , beating well. Add rind.

Stir in nut/date mixture then pour batter in tube or Bundt pan.

Bake 2+1/2 hours.

Make icing by juicing one orange & stir into 2 cups of powdered sugar

Before taking cake out of pan, pour icing over cake & let soak in . ( i would probably only pour half over cake, take cake out of pan, then pour the rest of the icing over cake setting on a serving plate.)
