1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
3 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. maple flavoring
1 c. finely chopped nuts, optional
1 c. finely chopped dates, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugars and butter. Add eggs, vanilla and maple flavoring. Mix together the flour, salt, soda and cream of tartar. Add to creamed mixture. Add very fine chopped nuts and dates. Make into two long rolls. Let stand overnight in refrigerator. Slice thin and bake in 350º oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Having a roll of this cookie dough in the freezer comes in very handy. You can have fresh baked cookies in a short time because you can slice the dough when it is partially frozen. This is a recipe of Grandma Honey Wynia.
