1+1/4 cup flour
1+1/3 cup sugar
1+1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk
3 TB shortening
1 egg
3 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate (cooled)
2/3 cup finely chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 325º

Grease & flour 7 x 11 pan.

measure all ingredientsinto large mixer bowl.

Blend on low for 30 seconds then raise to high speed & blend until fluffy.

Pour into pan & bake for 40 minutes

Let cake fully cool before frosting
