1+1/2 cup flour
1+1/4 cup sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup SPRY(Crisco)
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup evaporated milk
2 eggs

FROSTING:

1+1/2 cup whipped cream
4 TB confectionary sugar
1 tsp vanilla
------
4 TB butter
6 TB cocoa
4-5 TB hot water
2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Sift all dry ingredients together, then add Spry, vanilla & 2/3 cup milk.

Beat 2 minutes on slow & then raise speed to medium & add rest of milk & eggs & beat 2 minutes more.

Pour batter into 2 deep 8" cake pans prepared with Spry & wax paper on bottom

Bake 30 - 35 minutes

Let cakes cool completely, then split horizontally to make 4 layers total

Whip cream with sugar & vanilla. Spread whipped cream between each of the four layers

Melt butter & cocoa over double boiler & let cool

Pour hot water over sugar,salt & vanilla then mix into cocoa mixture & stir until smooth then frost top & sides of cake
