3/4 C. butter, melted
2 C. brown sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 C. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. chocolate chips or nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Grease an 8" square baking pan.

Combine melted butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl and blend well; add eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then add to wet ingredients in two stages, mixing between each addition. Stir in optional ingredients, if desired.

Pour into greased pan and bake 30 minutes. Cool in pan, then cut into squares/bars.

When I attended Punahou School for grades 7-12 (1964-70) these were everyone's favorite. They were created by the cafeteria manager, Mrs. Minnie Marciel.
