1 cup sifted all purpose flour
2 TB sugar
1+1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1 beaten egg

1+11/2 TB cornstarch
1/4 tsp ground mace
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
4 cups sliced fresh peaches
1 TB lemon juice
1 TB butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º

Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder,& salt.

Cut in (with a pastry blended) butter until mixture resemblesm coarse crumbs.

Combine milk & egg. Add to dry mixture & stir just to moisten.

Make filling by combining cornstarch, mace, brown sugar,& water in a saucepan.Cook & stir until thickened. Add peaches, lemon juice & butter. Cook until peaches are hot, about 5 minutes.

Pour filling into round 8" baking dish. Immediately spoon batter (in little rounds) over the top.

Bake 20 - 25 minutes. Serve warm
