4 cups water (use 1 cup to dissolve the yeast)
1/4 cup yeast
1/4 cup + 1 tsp sugar (use the 1 tsp to dissolve the yeast)
3 tsp salt
3/4 cup Crisco

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1 cup of warm water and 1 tsp sugar. It will bubble and foam
Melt the Crisco in the remaining 3 cups of warm water.
Once the yeast has bubbled and foamed. About 5 min., add to the water and Crisco. Add about two cups of flour and the salt. Stir. Continue to add flour and stir until you can start to knead the dough. Turn the dough out on floured surface. Knead for approx. 10 min. or until the dough becomes pliable and shiny. You may need to continue to add a bit of flour.

Place in greased bowl. Cover with Pam spray. Place towel loosely over the bowl. Place in non-drafty location and let rise until doubled. About 1 hour.

Punch down the dough. Divide into five loaves. You can also make rolls. Place into tins. Cover with towels and put in non-drafty location. Let rise until doubled. About an hour. Bake at 400 deg for rolls or 375 for loaves. Makes 5 loaves or 30 - 36 rolls.
