1 - 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
3 TB milk
2 TB softened butter
1 TB cornstarch
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup softened butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1+1/2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
FROSTING:
2 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup butter
3+1/2 sifted powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º

Combine cream cheese, 1 egg & 1/4 cup of sugar in a medium bowl; Beat on high until smooth. Gradually add 3 TB milk & next 3 ingredients, beating well then set aside.

Place chocolate squares in a double boiler over water until it boils, then lower heat & stir until chocolate is melted, stirring often. Set aside off the heat.

Cream 1/2 cup butter then gradually add 2 cups sugar beating well on medium speed. Add 2 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Add flour baking powder & soda & salt. stir well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternating with 1+1/3 milk ,beginning & ending with dry mix. Mix after each addition then stir in melted chocolate & vanilla.

Spread half the batter into a greased & floured 9 x 13 " baking pan . Spoon cheese mixture on top. Spread remaining chocolate mixture evenly over top

Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until center if firm. Let cool on rack completely before frosting

To make frosting - combine butter & chocolate in double boiler until melted. Remove from heat & let cool. Add sugar & milk once its a little cooler. Beat on medium speed until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
