3¼ cups sugar
1 cup Karo syrup
½ cup water
⅓ cup butter
3 cups raw peanuts
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ teaspoon soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, water and Karo syrup with wooden spoon. Cook on high until mixture boils and then to hard ball stage, (use candy thermometer) and stringy for approximately 20 minutes (when sampled stringy but not sticky).
Add peanuts, and continue to cook until crystallizes (hard ball). Then add butter.
Watch and cook until mixture darkens and the smell changes....don't burn. Critical time to watch candy...can quickly turn to burned.

Remove from heat and add soda and water.

Pour on to two greased cookie sheets.
