1 c butter,softened
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1 c sugar
1 egg, separated
1 tsp almond extract
2½ c flour
1 c finely ground blanched almonds
30 red candied cherries, halved

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter and cream cheese until creamy, gradually add sugar beating well. Add egg yolk and almond extract, mixing well Gradually stir in flour. Cover and chill 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350º.

Shape dough into 1" balls; dip tops of balls in beaten egg white, and the in almonds. Place 2" apart on a greased baking sheet. Press cherry half in center of each ball.

Bake 15 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
